The Defense Counsel Journal, a law review of the International Association of Defense Counsel, published You Can’t Unring the Bell: No Duty in Negligence to Remove a Defamatory Statement Published by Mass Media, authored by Walsh associate Carmen I. Abrazado

The article explains that under the single publication rule, a defamed person cannot sue for negligence based on a publisher’s failure to remove an online defamatory statement, because all reputational harm is legally tied to the original publication and must be pursued solely through defamation law.

The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has been serving a distinguished membership of corporate and insurance defense attorneys and insurance executives since 1920. Its activities benefit the approximately 2,500 invitation-only, peer reviewed members and their clients, as well as the civil justice system and the legal profession. Moreover, the IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform and professional development.
